Halfway There!

We are halfway done with our final fundraiser, our 300 piece panda puzzle! We should be receiving our LOA from China soon, which will put us approximately 10-14 weeks away form travel! We can't wait!

Here are details on how you can participate in helping to Bring Home Bella.

Here is what our puzzle looks like now!

Finding Beauty in the Waiting

Sometimes when you are in a season of waiting, it is easy to just sit around and feel sad. But how can I do that when I have five amazing children home already?

So my sweet girls and I took off last night, just before sunset, and had fun with a little photo shoot. They are about to turn 5 and 6 so the timing was perfect.

How I love these sweet girls of mine!

The Final Four

First of all, I want to start this post by thanking everyone who has supported us on this journey so far! We feel so incredibly blessed to be so close to bringing sweet Bella home to our family.

We are in the midst of one final push to fundraise some of our travel fees. Let me take a minute to explain our goal, and then I will explain what we are offering to try to reach our goal!

Remember our puzzle piece fundraiser that miraculously became a huge success and was finished off just in time for Father's Day?

Well, it was so successful that, although the Kindle giveaway drawings were done and all 500 pieces spoken for, we continued to receive donations. So we bought another, smaller, puzzle to write those names on, since people were wanting to still play a part in Bella's journey home!

And then we decided, that for each sale in our fundraisers (explained below) we would write the purchaser's name on a puzzle piece. As a tangible reminder of their support in helping to Bring Home Bella.

To date, there are names on 130 of the 300 puzzle pieces, and it looks like this.

We have 170 pieces left, and once those have names on them, we will wrap up our fundraising efforts. Stick a fork in us, we will be D.O.N.E. Not done getting the funds together for our travel, but done fundraising. Phil is still working tons of overtime and we are hoping for one more grant.

Anyways, here are the items we have available for fundraising.

Our FINAL FOUR.

I Made a Difference for this ONE

As many of you know, our precious Bella was born with severe spina bifida. When she was only a few weeks old, an angel went to her orphanage and brought her to Starfish Foster Home in Xi'an.

This amazing woman started the Starfish Foster Home and was inspired by this story.......

THE STARFISH STORY

The Starfish Thrower

Once upon a time there was a man who used to go to the ocean to do his writing. He had a habit of walking on the beach before he began his work. One day he was walking along the shore. As he looked down the beach he saw a human figure moving like a dancer. He smiled to himself to think of someone who would dance to the day. So he began to walk faster to catch up.

As he got closer, he saw that it was an older man and the man wasn't dancing. Instead he was reaching down to the shore, picking up something and very gently throwing it into the ocean. As he got closer he called out,

"Good morning! What are you doing?"

The older man paused, looked up and replied,

"Throwing starfish into the ocean."

The man noticed there were hundreds of starfish all washed up on the beach from a storm the night before. He watched as the man carefully continued to pick up the starfish one by one.

"I guess I should have asked, ‘Why are you throwing starfish
into the ocean?’"

"The sun is up and the tide is going out. If I don't throw them in they'll die."

"But don't you realize there are miles and miles of beach and starfish all along it. You can't possibly make a difference!"

The older man listened politely. He bent down, picked up another starfish
He looked at the starfish as he prepared to throw it into the ocean,
past the breaking waves and said –

"I will make a difference to this one!"

So many of you have, like everyone at Starfish, and now the caregivers at Bella's orphanage, "made a difference to this one."

We are so very close to being fully funded. This is hopefully our last big fundraiser. My dear friend, Shari, from Personalized Prints, has graciously designed and donated these shirts for us to sell to Bring Home Bella.

We are selling them for $10 each if you live locally, or $13 each if you need your shirt shipped to you. We have 100 shirts to sell.

Sizes available are:

youth xs, s, m, l, xl

adult - s, m, l, xl, 2x, 3x, 4x, 5x, & 6x

If you would like to order a shirt or several shirts, please send me a Facebook message or email me at elflikesmusic@hotmail.com for details!

You can also just Paypal your payment to elflikesmusic@hotmail.com, just make sure to comment which sizes you need!

It is my hope that on the day I bring Bella home from China, everyone all over the country will wear their shirts and post pictures and share the story about a little Starfish named Bella with anyone who asks!
